DT-118 Silicone Graining Compound – Vinyl Grain Texture Replication
Restore the Original Grain Pattern for Professional-Looking Vinyl Repairs
Leather Magic® DT-118 Graining Compound is a white, silicone-based material specially formulated to reproduce the original grain texture of vinyl surfaces during repair and restoration.
By taking an impression directly from the existing vinyl, the compound creates a precise replica of the material’s unique grain pattern. This allows repaired areas to be textured to closely match the surrounding surface for a more natural, professional-looking finish.
The compound requires mixing with a catalyst to initiate curing, with an approximate curing time of 10 minutes. Once cured, the flexible silicone grain impression can be reused multiple times on repairs involving the same grain pattern.
Recommended Application
Measure the compound: Place approximately one ounce of DT-118 Graining Compound into a clean mixing container.
Add catalyst: Add 6–8 drops of DT-119 Catalyst and mix thoroughly.
Create the impression: Pour the mixture onto a clean, undamaged section of vinyl containing the grain pattern you wish to duplicate.
Allow to cure: Let the compound cure for approximately 10 minutes, or until completely set.
Remove and reuse: Carefully remove the cured silicone impression. The resulting grain pad can be reused to replicate the same texture on subsequent vinyl repairs.
